The best-known red wine grape and the main variety used in all Bordeaux Medoc wines (clarets). Recognised by its strong Blackcurrant and herby aroma. The higher tannin content of the wine requires a longer maturation time to reach its peak. 3 - 4 Weeks Fermentation

I bought this kit in order to try out the full grape concentrate kits. I have previously been quite content with "hedgerow" and "vegetable" wines but thought that I would give this a go.

I must state that I am not a coinesseur (spelling?) of wines but I know a good one and I know what I like. The instructions are simple to follow. I left my wine for a period of 4 months in the bottle to mature and have recently opened my first bottle.

The results are amazing ! Forget the supermarket £5.99 a bottle - this is far superior. Smooth, Full of rich berry flavours and if there is any criticism, I would say that it lacks the Tannin found in many of the wines I have tasted (I'll try a tea bag or two next time).

I now intend to make a 5 gallon brew as , apparently, the results are much better. Easy drinking (aren't all wines?) improves with keeping but I can't see me keeping this for too long.
