Bottling Beer

Postby Paul123 » 10 Jul 2009, 00:07

Hi Folks
This is my 6th batch of beer I am fermenting. Usually I store it when fermented straight into the barrell and use it when wanted from there but this time I want to bottle it at some point. At what point do I bottle it? Do I first put it into the barrell and leave it for a while or can I bottle it straight from the fermenting tub?
Thanks Paul

Depends how you want it. If you dont mind flat beer you can bottle from your pressure barrel after its cleared.

If you want a bit of fizz in your bottled beer though, Bottle straight from the FV.

If your doing that though id leave it in the FV for about 7 days which will drop out alot of the crud.

Then add half a teaspoon of sugar to each bottle and fill to about an inch below the top of the bottle.

Cap it, leave it in a warm palce for a week (20*C ish) then move to a cooler area for a few weeks.

Then drink drink drink

Thanks for that M8 I am doing it as I write this email.
Decided to first put into barrell then add the finings then straight away bottle it from the barrel.
Thanks Again Paul
