Bad after taste?

Postby pfytche » 23 Apr 2009, 15:39

Hi. Just finished my first bitter kit. Had it in a king keg now for about a month. It is crystal clear and got a very good head retention. The problem is it leaves a horrible after taste in the mouth after drinking. Has it gone off do you think or is this normal for a bitter to have an after taste. I'm not a big fan of bitter so i've never really tried it before. I was given a Geordie bitter kit so gave it a go.

depends what you mean by bad after taste....

When i did my first home brew kit (present for xmas of the girl friend) it was placed in a king keg for a month, it again was cyrstal clear but had a strange after taste compared with normal shop bought beer, this was explained to me by many people at work as being "the home brew taste" :? ... it was very yeasty but wasnt a really bad taste.

I must admit since the starter kit beer i have had a couple of the more expensive ones and these are fantasic in comparison. If you like larger have ago at a coopers brew also have a gander at the morgans stuff, just brewing up a scharls european larger at the mo. The coopers cerveza was lovely, the girlfriend has polished that one off very quickly lol. i'll let you know in a couple of weeks how the euro larger is.

Not personally tried a geordie brew but having spoken to people its not one of the better ones.

Cheers
:)
